Double Trouble

Published January 8, 2016 by smartin9

As we all know by now, each year Pantone  creates a ” color of the year “. Well this year’s a bit different. Instead of one color they have released two. The choices for this year are Rose Quartz, a sweet pastel pink and Serenity, a beautiful baby blue. While I have never been one to wear pastels, I just may give these two a go. When blended together they produce a gorgeous shade of lavender. Purple of any hue is my favorite color.

I will be putting up some tutorials for looks with these two shades and other variations of them.   I am going to use both high-end and drugstore products in my looks. I hope you guys love them . I am , as always, open to opinions and suggestions from you all. I can’t wait to see what you think ! 🙂

Best Waterproof Liners For The Waterline

Published December 29, 2015 by smartin9

Waterlining your eyes is the best and easiest way to look a little more put together on those no- makeup days, make your lashes look thicker without piling on the mascara (who doesn’t want that), and add instant  drama to any eye look.  What’s not so easy however is getting the stuff to stay put . Let’s face it, even the best waterproof liner transfers and fades off the waterline after a while. Some liners are better than others of course. Its just a matter of finding what works for you. These are my top picks for the best waterproof eyeliners for the waterline.

1. Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eyeliners. ( $20.00 urbandecay.com) While some think that paying $20 for an eyeliner is crazy; these definitely are worth the price. The pigmentation is unbelievable, super creamy and easy to apply, and the long lasting formula make this my holy grail waterliner.

2. Makeup Forever Aqua Eyes Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil in Matte Black. ( $19.00 makeupforever.com) This pencil offers great pigmentation and long wear with a creamy formula.

3. Covergirl Liquiline Blast Eyeliner in Black Fire ( $8.49 cvs.com ) If you’re in the market for a good waterproof liner but don’t want to spend a lot of cash this may be the one for you. It has all the wear power and intensity of a liquid but in an easy to use pencil.

4. Smashbox Jet Set Waterproof Eye Liner ( $22.00 smashbox.com ) While not one of my personal favorites this gel liner is a pretty good alternative. It does have a long wear time but the application can be a bit crumbly and patchy. Adding a drop of oil to the pot before using it helps.

There you have it. My top picks for good waterproof eyeliners. I hope this helps. I would love to know your picks too! I hope to hear from you soon! 🙂

You wake up to the alarm clock by the bed, you reach for the snooze button and then you remember “It’s Christmas Day!” Heart pounding your feet hit the floor running. You’re scrambling to get everything done this morning. Family gathering to open gifts, kitchen a buzz as you tear into cooking , eating, and cleaning up after breakfast. Then its off to get everyone else ready for the day leaving you just enough time to throw  on a bit of makeup and twist your hair into a frizzy updo.

We’ve all had these crazy moments at one time or another. If only there were some shortcuts. Some ways to make the morning more enjoyable. Well you’re in luck. I’ve found a few tricks that will help cut down on the holiday stress. Hopefully they will help you guys as well.

Prep Ahead

Being a mom of two I know it’s never  easy to wake up and try to find outfits for everyone. This is especially true of the holidays. My house on Christmas morning is crazier than Black Friday at Target. So I’ve learned to get everything I can ready the night before .

-Choose all clothing and shoes for the next day and lay them out.Do the same with makeup and hair items.

-Opt for a “make- ahead” breakfast. ( i.e french  toast or breakfast casserole.

-If cooking  go ahead and chop all food items and store in the refrigerator until needed.

-Pre-plan your makeup and hair style in advance.

-Write a checklist for your Christmas Eve prep plan and check off each task as you complete it.

Finally, get a goodnight’s rest. You’re going to need  it.

Again; I hope that some if not all of these tips are of help all of you. Thanks for taking the time your time to  read this post 🙂 Merry Christmas !

Keys To Naturally Flawless Skin

Published December 17, 2015 by smartin9

We all want to be THAT girl. The one who can just roll out of bed and look perfect. The one who can throw on mascara and lip gloss and head out for the day. The one the rest of openly bash with our friends yet secretly admire. Well now you can be THAT girl. Here are a few tips to get flawless skin naturally.

Steer Clear of Harsh Cleansers

The skin on your face is more sensitive and thinner than the skin on your body. . This is especially true of the skin under your eyes.Harsh cleaners and scrubs can cause minute tears in the skin This can lead to some pretty nasty break outs. Nix the scrubs and strong cleansers. Instead go for something mild without harsh chemicals. Milks, gels and foams are the best choices . Make sure to scan the label to  see if its contains  plant-based derivatives.  One trick is to look at the name of the product. If it contains the prefixes  of gluco- ( natural fruit sugars) or coco- ( indicative of coconut) then you’re on the right track.

Avoid Toners

Skin toners were developed to restore the natural pH of your skin after cleansing with a strong alkaline soap. When reading product labels ; look for those that say pH balanced. These cleansers negate the need for any after cleansing toners. They can actually dry out your skin further if used together with a pH balanced soap.

Ensure Any Acid-Laced Products Are pH-Balanced

The pH levels in these products are already the same as those of the skin. These are the products that will remove any unwanted oils or makeup from the skin gently and easily. They also won’t strip away the natural oils of your skin..

Multi-tasking Moisturizer

If you’re in the market for a new moisturizer try one that both moisturizes and protects your skin. Find one that contains plant-based moisturizers. (i.e essential fatty acids or butters). These protect your skin better than any man-made emollients.

These are just some of the ways to get that flawless look without using harsh chemicals . There are many more tips to find out there.. Before you change your usual routine talk with your dermatologist .  Together you can find the best products for you.

If you have any tips or tricks f your own I would love to hear about them .Feel free to contact me. See you next time. 🙂
